It was a special time in Jerusalem. The city 🌆 was full of people celebrating 🥳 the holiday of Passover. Jesus knew it was time to have a very important dinner 🥘 with his twelve disciples.
Jesus sent two 2️⃣ of his disciples, Peter and John, on a special mission. He told them, "When you go into the city, 🏙️ you'll see a man carrying a water 💦 jar. 🏺 Follow him, he’ll lead you to just the right house." 🏠 They did as Jesus instructed and found the man, followed him, and discovered a perfect big room upstairs with a table and cushions where everyone could sit together.
When evening 🌅 came, Jesus and all his disciples gathered in this special room. The room was cozy 🧣 and warm, with oil lamps 🪔 giving off a gentle light. There was lots of yummy 😋 food on the table - fresh bread, 🥖 herbs, and other tasty things to eat. 🍽️
During the meal, Jesus stood up, picked up a loaf of bread, 🥖 and looked up to heaven with a big smile. 😊 He thanked God for the bread, 🍞 then broke it into pieces. As he gave each disciple a piece, He said: "This bread 🥯 is like my body. When you eat it, remember how much I love you." ❤️
Then Jesus picked up a cup 🍷 filled with grape 🍇 juice. Again, he thanked God and shared it with everyone. "This juice 🧃 is like my love 😍 for you," Jesus explained. "Whenever you drink it, remember that I made a special promise to always be with you." 🍷
While they ate, Jesus and his friends talked about all the wonderful times they had shared. 🔥 They remembered the stories Jesus had told them, the people they had helped, 🤗 and the amazing things they had seen. They even sang songs 🎶 together - special songs called psalms 🎧 that praised God.
Jesus also did something else that surprised 😮 everyone. Before dinner, he put on an apron, filled a bowl 🥣 with water, 💧 and washed his disciples' dusty feet! 👣 His disciples were shocked - usually only servants washed feet. 🦶 But Jesus wanted to show them that loving 🥰 each other means being willing to help each other, even in humble ways.
The disciples didn't know it then, but this would be their last dinner 🍲 with Jesus before He went to the cross. ✝️ That's why we call it "The Last Supper." It was such a special meal 🥘 that Jesus told his friends to keep sharing bread 🥖 and juice 🧃 together to remember him.
