The people of Israel 🇮🇱 were different from other nations. They were special 🌟 because God was their leader. But the Israelites wanted to be like other countries and have a king 👑 they could see. They asked the prophet Samuel to help them choose a king.
There lived a man in Israel named Saul who came from a small family. One day Saul met Samuel, and something amazing happened! ✨ Samuel told Saul that God had chosen him to be the king 👑 of Israel. He poured special oil 🧴on Saul's head, which was how kings were chosen in those days. Saul was very tall and strong 💪 - he stood taller 🦒 than anyone else in all of Israel!
At first, Saul was a great king. 🙌 He was brave and fought many battles ⚔️ to protect his people. The Israelites were often attacked by the Philistines, who were a powerful enemy. 😠 Saul led the army and won important victories. He helped keep the people of Israel safe and strong.
But Saul wasn't always perfect. Sometimes he made mistakes and didn't follow God's instructions exactly. 🙈 In one important battle, God gave very clear instructions - Saul was supposed to defeat them completely and not keep anything from their city. But Saul kept some of the best animals 🐄 🫏 and didn't do exactly what God had asked. 😒
When Samuel heard about this, he was very sad. 😔 He told Saul that because he didn't fully obey God, he would no longer be the king of Israel. 👀 God wanted a king who would listen carefully and follow His instructions completely. 🤔
