57. Jesus heals the ten lepers
/ luke 17:11-19 /

One day, Jesus was walking 🚶 between two towns called Samaria and Galilee. He met ten 🔟 men who were very sick 🤒 with an illness called leprosy. This sickness made their skin very sore and uncomfortable. 🥴 Because of their illness, these men couldn't live in their houses 🏘️ or touch anyone in their families. They had to live outside of town, all by themselves.
The sick 🤢 men knew about Jesus and had heard 👂🏻 that he could help people. When they saw him coming down the road, they stood far away (because that was the rule for sick 🤧 people back then) and called out in their loudest voices: "Jesus! Master! Please have mercy on us! Please help us get better!" ❤️🩹
Jesus saw them and his heart ❤️ was full of love and kindness for these sick 🤒 men. With a gentle voice, he called back to them: "Go show yourselves to the priests at the temple!" ⛪️ This was important because in those days, priests were like doctors 🥼 who could check 🩺 if someone was healthy again.
The men trusted Jesus, even though they didn't feel better yet. As they walked 🚶 along the dusty road to see the priests, 👨⚕️their sore skin began to heal. ❤️🩹Their pain went away. They looked at their hands 🙌 and arms and legs - 🦵 everything was becoming healthy and clean 🧼 again! All ten 🔟 men were completely healed! ✨
One of these men, who was from a place called Samaria, got so excited 😆 when he saw that he was healed that he stopped right in his tracks. Instead of continuing to the priests, 👨⚕️he turned around and ran 🏃🏼♂️💨 back to Jesus as fast as he could. His heart ❤️ was bursting with joy 🥹 and thankfulness! When he found Jesus, he fell down on his knees, 🙇 bowed his face to the ground, and thanked Jesus over and over again with a loud, happy 😆 voice.
Jesus looked at the man kneeling before him 🙇♂️ and asked, "Didn't I heal ten 🔟 men? Where are the other nine? Only this one man came back to praise 🙌 God and say thank you?" 🙏 Then Jesus spoke kindly to the thankful man, saying, "Stand up and go on your way. Your faith has made you well." ❤️🩹
