21. crossing the jordan

A brave new leader named Joshua 🧍🏻♂️ was helping the Israelites. Moses, their old leader, had died, 😵😢 and now Joshua was in charge. 📋 God told Joshua that it was time for the people to enter the special land God had promised them.
The Israelites came to a big river 💦 called the Jordan River. 🏞️ The river was very wide and deep, 🦦 and they wondered how they would get across. But Joshua trusted God and told the people to be courageous.
God told the priests to carry the special Ark of the Covenant and walk into the river first. 🏋️♀️ As soon as their feet 🦶 touched the water, something miraculous happened - the river stopped flowing! The water 💧 split into two parts, making a dry path right through the middle.
All the Israelite people walked across the dry riverbed. No one got wet! 🤯 The children probably thought it was like a big, magical ✨ road right through the water. The priests stood in the middle of the river, holding the special Ark, while everyone crossed safely. 👷♂️
After everyone was across, Joshua asked one person from each of the twelve tribes to pick up a big stone 🪨 from the river. They made a special stack of stones 🗿 to help them always remember how God helped them cross the river. 🏞️
The people were happy 😊 and excited. 😆 They knew God was taking care of them and helping them find their new home. 🏡
